eInclusion
e-Inclusion or digital inclusion is the term used to encompass activities related to the achievement of an inclusive information society. It urges that the Information Society must share its benefits with the whole society, including disadvantaged people, such as people with a disability and the elderly. The European Commission marked the eInclusion thematic areas: e-Accessibility makes ICT accessible to all, Ageing empowers older people to fully participate in the economy and society, e-Competences equips citizens with the knowledge and skills, Socio-Cultural e-Inclusion enables minorities, migrants and marginalized young people to fully integrate into communities and participate in society by using ICT, Geographical e-Inclusion increases the social and economic well being of people in rural, remote and economically disadvantaged areas with the help of ICT, and Inclusive eGovernment delivers better, more diverse public services for all using ICT.
There is a powerful civic activity in the field of eInclusion in Hungary. There are many eInclusion initiatives run by NGOs in Hungary such as IT-mentor program, Grandparent-Grandchild Competition of Informatics. The civic eInclusion movement wants stakeholders to promote eSkills and basic digital literacy training, especially for those who are most at risk of missing out on the benefits of the Information Society such as elderly and disabled people.
